A unique name calls for a unique business, and Café Michael 2 is nothing short of just that!

Located on Rundle Street, this authentic Thai restaurant opened in 1982 and has been an Adelaide institution ever since. The owner has asked to remain anonymous as he believes Café Michael 2 is not about him but about the wonderful staff and delicious food.

In saying that, head chef Soda has worked in the Café Michael 2 family for over 20 years now. Over time, Soda has built long-standing, personal relationships with customers. So much so that some will even head to the kitchen to give compliments about their amazing meal!

“The word ''authentic'' is often thrown around a lot these days, but Cafe Michael really do have an authentic feel to their dishes. I ordered the beef noodle soup, and it came out looking like how it would in Thailand” – satisfied customer.

We asked the owner what his inspiration behind the food was, and as a man of a few words he said ‘Thai food, I like it.’ This is represented by the clean, fresh and flavoursome dishes the team serve every day. Some of their most popular and authentic dishes are the Green Chicken Curry, Traditional Fish Cakes and Laksa (highly recommended).

So how are the dishes so flavoursome? Some of Café Michael 2’s team members travelled to Thailand to try the tastes, smells and spices of Thai food first hand. From their experience, they brought back a pool of knowledge they now use when preparing their customers’ favourites.

Café Michael 2 has a huge community following, as they love to host parties and functions for businesses of any size! Support from the likes of the Royal Adelaide Hospital, University of SA and the City Council make their everyday business even more enjoyable.

The staff highlighted that they couldn’t have such a successful online business without the help of Zwift. 

‘I love the personal relationships I’ve developed with those who work at Zwift and I am comforted by the fact that I know they won’t share my customer database with anyone else.’
